Getting enough sleep to reduce stress

Whether it’s due to extended work sessions, late nights out, or long periods spent on screens, teenagers and young adults tend not to get enough sleep during their school years.

Good sleep hygiene is crucial for staying healthy and reducing study-related stress. For young people aged 18 to 25, the recommended sleep duration varies between 7 and 9 hours per night.

Several tips can be implemented to promote restful sleep. For example, it’s advisable to filter blue light from screens after 7 p.m. and avoid social media before bed, as it can be anxiety-inducing. Instead, opt for relaxing activities such as reading or watching a calming film!

Eating a balanced diet to promote attention

When moving out on your own for the first time, a lack of time, money, or cooking skills can lead to poor nutrition. However, poor nutrition is often a source of concentration problems, anxiety, and even depression.

A healthy diet, on the other hand, promotes intellectual capacity and attention. That’s why it’s important to eat a balanced diet, limiting ready-made meals and opting instead for homemade meals combining starches, proteins, dairy products, fruits, and vegetables.

At CE3P, microwaves are available to students to encourage them to bring their own homemade meals. To enable everyone to eat healthily and affordably, numerous solutions exist, such as the CROUS (student services organization), anti-waste apps, solidarity grocery stores, and food distribution initiatives .

Doing physical exercise to stay in shape

After spending the day behind a desk, it’s hard to find the motivation to go out… Yet, there’s nothing like a little physical exercise to stay in shape and relieve stress. Beyond regular sports activities (football, climbing, combat sports, or swimming, for example), movement should be part of your daily routine.

And for that, every opportunity must be seized: favouring stairs over escalators or elevators, getting off one stop before your usual stop, going to class by bike, walking while listening to music during your lunch break…

To help students plan their extracurricular activities, CE3P has launched a newsletter featuring the best current photo exhibitions and events. It’s a great excuse to get some fresh air and combat a sedentary lifestyle, while enjoying quality time with friends or family!

Organizing yourself so you don’t get overwhelmed

Going to bed early, preparing healthy meals, going out with friends… Yes, but how can you do that when you spend most of your day in class and still have to study in the evening and on weekends?

Good organization is crucial to avoid feeling overwhelmed and to find balance during studies! To achieve this, the ideal is to create a stable schedule, distributing regular work hours while taking into account occasional tasks and times dedicated to entertainment.

Getting organized is the first step towards becoming independent when leaving the family home. Because this stage of student life shouldn’t hinder the academic year, CE3P is committed to supporting students with their administrative procedures from the moment they arrive in Paris.
