If for some people, finding their style of dress seems simple and obvious, this is not the case for everyone. Finding your style requires a good knowledge of yourself and it is sometimes easy to get lost in the twists and turns of fashion and new trends.
Some people will enjoy following fashion and getting caught up in the whirlwind of trends. For others, however, following fashion is not the most important thing. The most important thing is to follow his style, a style that will match our personality.
Learn to pinpoint what really appeals to you
When you buy a garment, what type of pieces do you go for most easily? These are real favorites and not items bought only “because you have to dress well”. What do you have your sights on (before perhaps resting it and telling yourself that it’s not for you)? What type of silhouette makes you stop in the street, in front of a store window or even on a magazine page?
Also put your finger on what you buy out of need and what you buy out of want, which are two very distinct things. Just because your closet is full of comfy clothes doesn’t mean you really like it. If you could buy what you like at first glance without thinking about the job, the children, or what people might think of you, would your choices be different? If you answered “yes” to this question, it is because your style of dress certainly does not correspond to your deep desires. On the contrary, if nothing would change then you are probably on the right track to find your style or maybe you have already found it! It’s up to you then to continue on this path and to dare to assert yourself even more!
Get out of your comfort zone
Getting out of your comfort zone takes practice and a bit of self-confidence. Do you always wear black, your wardrobe contains several identical pieces but in different colors or your pants all have the same cut? It’s time to get out of your comfort zone! Learn to identify the cuts that suit your morphology and those that highlight you and dare! Dare to make different associations, dare the color, dare the skirt or the dress rather than the pants and you will see the difference. The positive comments from those around you will be proof of this.
Expand your choice of shops
Do you always go to the same shops? Is it by choice or convenience? If you had the opportunity to dress elsewhere, would you take it? Even if budget level, it is not always possible to dress where we would like, the type of store that attracts us already gives us an indication of the style that we like in general. Dare to walk through the door of different shops and see if you like what you see. Don’t be afraid to dig a little to form your own opinion. You may be surprised at what you find there!
