The month of June is slowly coming to an end and the commercial actions are already multiplying: clearance sales, private sales, coupled sales and other sales of all kinds which remind us that the sales are dangerously approaching!
And, what better way to make the sales a success, than to already start preparing? Let’s take a tour of the purchases to be made during the sales together to avoid disappointment and follow my advice for successful sales!
HOW TO PREPARE THE SALES?
Before talking about what to buy during the sales, let’s dwell for a moment on how to prepare for sales in stores (or on the internet). Before thinking about filling your dressing room with your new finds, there are 3 points to respect for a successful sale.
1. HAVE AN OVERVIEW OF YOUR DRESSING ROOM
Before shopping for new pieces on sale, make sure you know exactly what you have in your closet . How many skirts, pants, heels, etc. do you have to avoid duplicates and thus unnecessary purchases. If you have the courage, you even take the opportunity to sort out your wardrobe. This leaves room for future new acquisitions and allows us to eventually replace outdated or damaged parts with new ones.
2. DO SOME SCOUTING AND PREPARE A SHOPPING LIST FOR THE SALES
In order not to be tempted by everything and anything (especially anything), I advise you to establish a list to respect. In order to make your famous shopping list for the sales , it will therefore be useful for you to do some tracking, whether online or in store, this will save you time on D-Day.
3. SET YOURSELF A BUDGET TO STICK TO
Do you tend to let yourself be tempted during the sales and weaken in front of the latest good deal? Start by buying the purchases on your list and, if your budget allows it, why not fall for the unexpected favorite piece
WHAT TO BUY DURING THE SALES?
The trap of sales is to end up buying anything because it was supposedly a good deal. So what are the purchases to make during the sales or what to buy during the sales ?
1. RELY ON YOUR LIST FOR SUCCESSFUL SALE PURCHASES
We base ourselves on our favorites of the year that we have not been able to afford at full price or a piece that is missing from our dressing room. You rely on your list so as not to disperse and be sure not to be tempted by unnecessary purchases. We can still leave a joker for an unexpected favorite piece, it’s a gift.
2. GOOD BASICS TO BUY ON SALE
The basics are those pieces we need to create our outfits. For example, we combine a basic with a stronger piece to avoid too much. The basics are therefore those pieces that will last over time and that will not go out of style. We therefore make sure to buy them of good quality. We then take advantage of the sales to buy basics on which we can count for several seasons.
3. USE YOUR PURCHASE BUDGET FOR SALES FOR BRANDED PIECES OR A LARGER BUDGET
The sales at H&M or Zara are good, but if you really want to do good business , it’s to the brands that you will turn. You will find quality clothes there (note that brand name clothing does not always mean quality clothing), with beautiful finishes and that your budget does not allow you during the year. This is an opportunity to buy beautiful pieces at a lower cost.
4. BUY LEATHER GOODS AND ACCESSORIES ON SALE
I will never repeat it enough, it is the accessories that make the difference on an outfit. A pretty handbag or a beautiful clutch can therefore be a purchase to make during the sales. Take the opportunity to buy an accessory that will be useful for all seasons, for example.
A nice pair of shoes can also be a useful purchase for the sales. While sorting your dressing room, do you realize that you are missing a pair of nude sandals for the summer or that your favorite pair is starting to get damaged? Now is the time to fix it!
5. BEWARE OF FAKE BARGAINS DURING SALES
Even if this t-shirt only costs €5 or this pretty dress is on sale at -70%, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a good deal! If it’s a piece that will stay in your dressing room, it will always cost too much. We therefore take care to look carefully at the quality of the garment and its finish: does the material crumple quickly, are the seams well done, is the garment in good condition, the material is not it’s not too fine,… these are all questions to ask yourself before purchasing a new piece. If the garment is not the right size (too small or too big), we also forget. It’s a bad buy that will stay in your closet.
Finally, in order to know if you are making a good purchase, think about 3 different outfits with which you can wear the piece in question. Can you find just one? It’s definitely a bad buy.
6. CONSIDER ONLINE SHOPPING TO SHOP DURING SALES
Most websites offer the possibility of making wishlists that you can prepare in advance to save time on the day of the sales launch. You also avoid the rush of the first few days by being quietly at home with a good glass ofvinlemonade. It also allows you to manage your budget more easily by being less tempted by items not on your shopping list.
The extra trick? If you hesitate between two sizes, order the 2! Admittedly, this requires having a little money aside, but it will be without regret if the piece on which you have set your sights is out of stock. Be sure to check that you can return unsuitable items free of charge.
LAST TIPS FOR THE BIG DAY OF THE SALES

- Make a list of stores that fit your style and budget.
